During the recent days, our brotherly Greek people in the vicinity of Athens and other areas have been engulfed by devastating wildfires. In addition to the material damage (entire neighborhoods, buildings, houses, cars, forests, olive groves, and other orchards were burnt), over eighty people have been killed in the fires, including children, and the number of injured and missing persons is even higher.
His Holiness our Serbian Patriarch Irinej has appealed to all of us, dear brothers and sisters, to collect financial and material assistance to ease the suffering of our Orthodox brothers and sisters in Greece.
By responding to the appeal of His Holiness, we invite all our parishioners and friends to financially assist the victims of these unprecedented and catastrophic wildfires. According to our Patriarch, “our Christian duty is to share the suffering and pain of every neighbor without exception, and especially our brotherly Greek people with whom we share the same faith, who have always supported us, especially in the nineties of the last century and until present.”
You may bring your donations in person or send in by mail to the church address with a note specifying “to help the brotherly people of Greece”.
Thank you and may God bless you and protect you!
