Rev. Protonamesnik Radovan Jakovljevic, Parish Priest

Fr. Radovan was born on September 15, 1974, in Loznica, Serbia. He finished elementary school in his birthplace and in 1989 he enrolled in the St. Sava Theological Seminary in Belgrade, Serbia, where he studied until 1994.

After completing all the Seminary courses in good academic standing, Father Radovan continued his studies at the Theological College in Belgrade, Serbia.

In 1995 he moved to the United Sates of America. From 1995-1999 he attended the St. Sava School of Theology in Libertyville, Illinois, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree. After graduation and a consultation with His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher, he continued his studies at St. Vladimir's Theological Seminary in Crestwood, New York. In 1999 he enrolled in the Master of Arts program in Christian Education. Following the completion of his studies in 2001, he returned to Chicago where he was appointed the Director of the Department of Christian Education for the Serbian Orthodox Midwestern Metropolitanate.

On June 9, 2002, he was united in marriage with Milijana Kuljanin from Mount Prospect, Illinois. Milijana holds a teaching degree in mathematics at the University of Illinois in Chicago. The following year, on Sunday, August, 17, 2003, he was ordained a deacon at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Lansing, Illinois. After his ordination Father Radovan became the Camp Director of St. Sava Monastery Children's Camp in Libertyville, Illinois.

On the eve of Vidovdan, on Sunday, June 27, 2004, His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher ordained Father Deacon Radovan Jakovljevic to the holy priesthood during the Divine Liturgy at St. Lazarus Cathedral "Lazarica" in Detroit, Michigan. As the head of the Department of Christian Education, Father Radovan supported and took an active role in many educational activities such as: Stewardship programs, St. Nikolai Pilgrimage Celebration, St. Sava programs, Winter Youth Retreats, and Pan-Orthodox seminars. Currently he serves as a member of the two National Standing Committees for the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United States and Canada: Christian Education and Youth Ministry.

Father Radovan is to a large extent involved in the field of Bioethics. In 2006 he finished the Certification Program in Bioethics through the National Catholic Bioethics Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At present, he is enrolled in the Master of Bioethics program at the Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL.

In May 2006, father Radovan was appointed a temporary administrator of St. Petka Serbian Orthodox Mission Parish in Nashville, Tennessee. In June 2007, he was appointed a temporary administrator of the St. Archangel Michael Mission Parish in Huntsville, Alabama. Fr. Radovan served as the Director of Department of Christian Education of the Serbian Orthodox Midwestern Metropolitanate for 8 years (2001-2008).

As of November 1, 2008 he was appointed the pastor of the Southern parish of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Chicago.
