OVERVIEW

The Cathedral's Sunday School program nurtures our most precious resource, our youth. Children raised in this program are taught the spiritual values of Orthodoxy and the rich customs and traditions of the Serbian culture. Today, our Sunday School has an enrollment of over 200 students and 15 classes.

CURRICULUM

The curriculum follows the program set up by the Department of Christian Education of Midwestern Metropolitanate.

TEACHING STAFF

The program is run by over 30 dedicated volunteer teachers and staff working, many of whom are graduates of the program themselves. The staff bring a variety of backgrounds to further enrich the Sunday School program and include public and private school teachers, academics, professionals, and, of course, mothers and fathers of some of the children.

ADULT BIBLE STUDIES

Our Adult Bible Study program is very instructional and very informative. Here we are given the opportunity to enrich and enhance our learning experience in the diverse facets, functions, teachings, doctrines and Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church. Classes are thought by Cathedral Clergy and guest speakers.

CATHEDRAL YOUTH GROUP

The high school discussion group brings together the church's teenagers (ages 14 to 18) and provides them a firsthand opportunity to engage in discussion with the clergy. This group is convened on third Sunday each month as one of our priests joins the teenagers in an open-group discussion of current events and the meanings of Orthodoxy. Through fellowship, college youth come together and stay close with the church.

Junior BRANKO RADICHEVICH CHOIR

Anyone interested in joining the choir is welcome to attend rehearsals; for further information contact the choir director. Rehearsals are held every Thursday night at choir loft in church at 7 PM. Mss. Elizabeth Neskow, Choir Director

SOKO FOLKLORE GROUP

Serbian Folklore Group SOKO was established in 1962 by Mr. Dragan Jordanovich as an integral part of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. SOKO folklore group has toured throughout North America and is widely acclaimed as one of the best Serbian folklore groups on the continent! Rehearsals are held every Friday evening. During the Nativity Fast and Great Lent rehearsals are held on Monday night. NO rehearsals during the first and last week of Nativity Fast and Great Lent! There are stewardship requirements to participate in the SOKO folklore group. These include regular attendance at Divine Liturgy and Church School attendance and participation in other youth and church activities. Regular weekly dance practices are held from September through May. Regular attendance at weekly fall practices is required as well as meeting other stewardship requirements in order to perform at the Festivals. Choreographer: Mss. Elena Manovska

CATHEDRAL ALTAR BOYS

All boys in the parish over the age of 8 may serve as an Altar Boy. Being an Altar Boy is a wonderful way to learn the Divine Liturgy and create friends and fellowship with other youth. Twice a year, Altar Boys attend "Altar Boy Seminar". Altar Boys must be on time each Sunday and participate at the special services throughout the year. Through active rticipation in the Divine Liturgy on Sundays and holidays, the program instructs the boys on the meaning of the Divine Liturgy, other services, and the fundamental sacraments of the church.

SERBIAN LANGUAGE CLASSES

Our Serbian Language classes are open to children who want to learn how to read, write and converse in Serbian. Classes are held during the school year on Friday nights. Each year the students read religious and patriotic poems during the St. Sava Celebration (January 27). Mr. Milan Egelja, Director
