His Grace Bishop Longin of New Gracanica and Midwestern America, our diocesan hierarch and spiritual father, will lead the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral this Sunday, June 30th, at 10:30 am, the Cathedral office announced today.
The hierarchical visit and liturgical celebration takes place on the second Sunday after Pentecost and will coincide with the annual celebration of the Slava of the Serbian National Defense Council of America — Vidovdan. According to tradition, following the holy eucharistic service a pomen will be chanted in memory of the valiant soldiers and heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice “for the Honorable Cross and Golden Freedom” from the Battle of Kosovo to our current times.
Following the Hierarchical Liturgy and Pomen, the Serbian National Defense Slava Celebration will be held in the Cathedral Hall, featuring a keynote address by Prof. Milos Kovic — a leading historian and author — to which all are invited.
Parishioners and guests are cordially invited to this prayerful gathering. Please join us in front of the Cathedral at 10:25 AM to warmly welcome our hierarch and father in Christ, His Grace Bishop Longin.
