SerbFest 2020 Help – Please Donate

Dear Parishioners,

We hope that this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy during this most challenging time. It’s a stunning reminder of our frailty and dependence on God and one another.

Our parish was scheduled to celebrate 30 years of SerbFest Chicago on August 7 – 9, 2020. As the City of Chicago is currently in Phase 4 (Gradual Resume) of reopening, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events has announced that all permitted special events are cancelled through Labor Day (September 7, 2020). Unfortunately, due to this decision, we will not be able to hold SerbFest 2020 as planned. God willing, we will celebrate 30 years of SerbFest Chicago on August 6-8, 2021. Mark your calendars and Save the Date!

Thank you to all of the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and patrons for all of your support over the 30 years of the event. Since the inception of SerbFest on August 5, 1990, the event has grown from a Sunday picnic to a 3-day event of increasing scope and magnitude. It is the largest fundraiser for our parish and largest Serbian Festival in the Chicagoland area. In 2019 together we raised, $1xx,xxx which went to funding various programs at our parish, as well as operating expenses. We could not have done this without the help of all of you – the parishioners and friends of our Holy Resurrection Cathedral.

In lieu of the live event this year, we are kickstarting a fundraising campaign to help us meet the budget for 2020. We are reaching out to you to help us meet our 2020 fundraising goals.

Here are the ways you can make a donation:

— Make a donation online at www.serbiancathedral.org/donate/

— Send a check payable to HRSOC SerbFest, and mail to Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 5701 N. Redwood Drive, Chicago, IL, 60631

— Drop off donation at the HRSOC office, earmarked SerbFest Fundraising Appeal 2020.

On behalf of the Serbfest 2020 and Fundraising Committee, thank you in advance for your consideration, and your tangible support for our Cathedral parish.

Sincerely,

V. Rev. Darko Spasojevic
Cathedral Dean

Ilija Sisarica,
Executive Board President

Jelena Stojakovic,
Committee Chairperson
